August 2000: Cinders
In August, I went riding with some long time chat
friends from Phoenix. They were JeffH (Jeff), Fourtrax (Jeff), BQ (Kim),
and Bee (real name withheld for fear of a beating) from Flagstaff on
Sunday. JeffH rides a '87 Honda 250R with a new CT 310 kit, Fourtrax
rides a '89 Honda 250R that is bored and stroked to 350, BQ rides a
Banshee with motor mods and pipes, and Bee rides a '00 Honda 400EX.
JeffH, Fourtrax, BQ, and I all got up to the Cinders on
a Friday night and got camp setup and hung out around a campfire till
around 1:30 in the morning. Saturday we hit the trails and did some hill
climbing and some trail riding in the flat areas. It rained pretty hard
in the afternoon and lightening was striking close to us. The rain was
actually a nice thing to have there because it gets very dusty. Saturday
night we had a BBQ and hung out around the campfire again.
Sunday morning we hit the trails a couple more times and
Bee joined us for a ride. We were packed up around 1:00 and left pretty
sore. Many of the trails at the Cinders are solid whoops for miles so
you can't sit down and rest. Overall, we had a great trip. Hope you
enjoy the photos. Might even learn a thing or two.
