Thanksgiving 2000 was one of the biggest ATV Connection
chat gatherings so far. Aerik, Dunerash, and Notso came from Washington
state, Jaybo from Oregon, LT-80 from Pennsylvania, Stroker from
Wisconsin, B250R from Texas, BCRC400ex from Northern California,
Mike330r, Surfer, Redrider, and Billsinca from Southern California, and
myself from Arizona. Hopefully I didn't leave anyone out.
I made it to Ogilby the Sunday before Thanksgiving
and left on Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving. I had to go home and
eat some turkey with the family. While at the dunes, we did a lot of
great riding and Mike330r, Jaybo, Aerik, and I did one final trip from
Ogilby to Glamis. The next day, the middle of the dunes were officially
closed. The ride took forever but I had never done it before and was
glad I did. I was the only one with a stock gas tank and ran out of gas
about 5 minutes from Glamis even though I had brought an extra gallon of
gas. Mike330r drained some gas out of his tank for me and we finally
made it. We headed over to Boardmanville with some people from our
group who met us at the Glamis Store and hung out there for about an
hour. Instead of riding back to Ogilby, I loaded up my quad on
BCRC400ex's trailer by the Glamis Store and drove his truck back
for him. It was getting cold out and all I had was a t-shirt so I was
more than happy to do it for him.
Overall, the trip was great! We did a lot of duning,
dragging up Patton Hill, hung out at Test Hill all by ourselves (I left before the big
nights), checked out the sand drags by Gordon's Well, ate some good food
(thanks Redrider and Billsinca!), and
blew lots of stuff up (M-80's rule). During the days, it was in the 70's but cloudy most of
the time I was there. It was cool to finally meet some chatters who
I had been talking to for up to 4 years. They were just as nuts in
person as they are online :)
